Fasting or as we know Upavasa has a broad definition. Whatever lifestyle we maintain in our day to day life we have to change in a regular time interval to make our body and soul healthy. You may notice that how busy and pressured lifestyle we are living. We use tamashika foods like spicy, non veg dishes every day. And also take tea, coffee, soft drinks and hard drinks also. Spent hours and hours in those activities by which we loose our inner peace.
Many people take Upavasa in another sense. Just taking the satwik aahars on a particular day is not an Upavasa. They don’t know actually, why we need to do fasting? For it we have to first understand about our body and why it needs fasting. In the body’s natural cycle something called board (Mandal) which means that in every 40 to 48 days, the body goes through a particular cycle. And in between these days there are 3 days (in interval of 11 to 14 days) when the body does not need any food. And in these 3 days anyone can live pleasantly. If you have any pet animal, then most of time you may mark one thing between them that they don’t eat anything on a specific day. Actually, they also go through that natural cycle of the body. But we are not so much conscious that we can identify that special day. That’s why for everyone’s attention a day fixed as per Hindu calendar i.e. Ekadashi. If you are from other religion you can mark a specific day on the calendar and you can follow it.
So use that particular day not only to clean your body internally, but also from outside. Try to live a simple life. Do some mediation. Just live a different life which can fill freshness and insert energy both inside your body and soul. In this way you can experience the greater dimension of Life by fasting.
Indian women have a weakness toward gold ornaments. That’s why, if not possible in ordinary day they like to teem with ornaments in special occasion like festival days or family functions. Men also wear gold jewelleries on their bodies. During the Vedic era, there are 36 kinds of essential jewelleries and ornaments were used by people. Few on the upper part of body and few on the lower part of the body. You may mark one thing Hindus are wearing gold on the upper part of the body and Silver ornaments on the lower part of body. There are various benefits of wearing gold jewellery on skin.
There are two kinds of effects created on human body due to wearing gold jewelleries –
Scientific Effect Behind Wearing Gold Jewellery –
As per ancient civilization there was a thought that gold had healing properties. They thought if a person took pure gold, and put it on a wound then it helps to control the infection and help to heal the wound. Actually, at that time they used 24-karat gold means pure gold (Today, people use alloyed gold jewelleries where other metals change the properties of the pure gold).
Genuinely, gold possessed an energy that brought warm, soothing vibrations to the body to aid healing. It helps to move blood through the tissue spaces evenly without a hitch replacing the dead cells.Gold is also trusted to have a relaxing impact. Gold is in itself creating a blissful feeling which creates a positive impact psychologically. Gold is a non-toxic metal. Nevertheless, it harms human body internally or externally.
Spiritual Effect Behind Wearing Gold Jewellery –
It believes that divine consciousness is activated and attracted by wearing a gold ring on ring figure. It’s also a believe that wearing gold above the waist get over from stronger negative energies (i.e. ghosts, devils, demons etc.).
Gold is not only using to enhance outer beauty, but also used in medicines. In Ayurveda gold is also used as bhasma (ash) for many reasons. It is called as Swarna Bhasma. It unfolds quickly the colour and beauty of the body. Not only Hindus but Egyptians also believed, the healing powers of gold could cure all manner of physical, mental and spiritual ailments. History says the secret the beauty of Queen Cleopatra was a golden mask which one she wore on her face at the time of sleep.
Yoga and Ayurveda are the ancient life-disciplines that have been practiced in India for centuries. The main objective to practice each is to achieve longevity, rejuvenation and self-realization.
As we know Ayurveda is the science of life where Yoga is the science of union with the Divine, with Truth. In Hinduism, the goal of life is to get salvation. And the path is not so easy. It’s also a time consuming process. Ancient Munis wanted to live thousands of years through meditative consciousness to get final beatitude. That’s why Yogis discovered Yoga with Ayurveda. They adopted both systems as the part of their life equivalently.
Ayurveda can be practiced successfully by anyone for the achievement of good health and longevity where Yoga is liberation, although only certain disciplined individuals are able to obtain this ultimate goal through these practices. Yoga is the path of getting salvation. And Ayurveda gives assistance. It is necessary first to understand both. None of these practices stand alone.
Yoga has six branches and Ayurveda has eight branches which we will discuss in our subsequent articles.
